Southall Community Alliance

Southall Community Alliance (SCA) was established as an independent charitable organisation in 2000 to work with residents and community groups in the Southall area. We have a long history of responding to the needs of local voluntary sector organisations and currently run a Community Resource Centre, which provides support services to many local groups. SCA is committed to strengthening and empowering the groups that we work with to play a fuller role in our community.

Students at Urban Garden - 8/7/26

We took three work placement students to our urban garden yesterday. In very warm conditions, Davina., Harleen and Chrisan worked very hard and hopefully also enjoyed the experience.

First aid training course

Staff from SCA and other colleagues attended a first aid training course at Open Havelock. This is training for a topic that is becoming more important for organisations as they expand their work activities with residents.

Information stall at Southall College

Natalie and Yomna recently managed an information stall at Southall College. They met with staff and students and were able to network with other colleagues.

Summer fair at Blair Peach - 2/6/26

Blair Peach Primary arranged their summer fair event on 2nd July and our staff were present to arrange an art and craft stall. As well as the craft stall, Mehak also spoke to numerous adults as part of a research survey.

The day ended with a raffle draw, into which we donated a bicycle. Needless to say, the bike created a lot of excitement and was actually one by a small pupil in reception !

Film show at Town Hall - 26/6/26

We arranged our monthly film show for older users on 26th June. Currently, the session is attended by a mainly female audience who choose which film they wish to see. The session provides an opportunity for them to socialise and enjoy each other’s company and is a good way of responding to the social isolation that some of the women are experiencing.

Community forum in June - 25/6/26

Our June community forum meeting covered some very interesting topics. We began with a short presentation by two pupils from Blair Peach Primary School about sustainability and this was followed by Tristan Brice from the council talking about voluntary sector grants. Our main agenda item send a discussion about the council’s drug and alcohol service provided by RISE. The work and presence of the organisation were discussed frankly and this is a matter that we are likely to revisit it in the near future.
