On Friday 11th September Southall Community Alliance hosted the Southall Community Awards at the Monsoon Banqueting Hall. Bringing together community members, special guests and local organisations, it was a celebration of the amazing volunteering and community work taking place in Southall.
The evening was hosted fantastically by our Human Rights Officer Mariam Sorour, with a warm welcome provided by our chair Jags Sanghera and one of our special guests, the Mayor of Ealing Councillor Faduma Mohamed. We also had wonderful entertainment from Mike Chand, Munde Punjab De and Inderjit London before our Treasurer, James Jerald, and our Vice-Chair, Harsev Bains, closed the event.

Raffle and Blind Auction
At the end of the evening we held a sold-out raffle and blind auction, with some great prizes available including a laptop worth £1000, VIP tickets to a ladies match at Emirates Stadium, a home projector, a trip to the Cotswolds, a photoshoot worth £500 and many more! Thank you to all those who participated.
In solidarity with Southall’s Nepalese community, many of whom were badly affected by the devastating disaster in Nepal last month, Southall Community Alliance committed to contributing half of the funds raised from the raffle and blind auction towards the disaster relief effort. This resulted in us donating £2015 to the Nepal Flood Relief Fund, coordinated by the Nepal Run Club UK, who also attended the event to speak about the recent disaster.

Thank you to those who supported
A small organising group of our trustees worked for months to arrange the evening. Well done to Jaskaran Singh, James Jerald, Anjuna Kalsi and TP Singh for their efforts. Thank you also to the Southall Community Alliance staff who supported the team and ran the event on the evening.
We would also like to thank our main sponsors for the event, Career Xcelerator, Punjab National Bank and Malabar Gold & Diamonds.
Finally, we would like to thank Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, Deirdre Costigan MP and Seema Malhotra MP for their support both before and during the event.
Southall Community Spirit
Southall has a history of amazing community activism and generosity and our goal was to keep this at the very heart of the Awards evening. At Southall Community Alliance we want to showcase the incredible voluntary work taking place in the community and to celebrate local changemakers and leaders.
Thank you to everyone who made the Awards evening possible this year. We’re looking forward to hosting the Southall Community Awards again in 2027!
